Getting your Car Ready for the Cold Months Ahead
There’s a number of things that we should do to help our cars get ready for the cold months ahead. In this blog post we will go over some of the most important and most common proactive procedures. First of all let’s get those winter tires out of storage. Our cars normally come equipped with All-Season tires from the dealer, but here in Ontario even though we experience the 4 seasons, it’s not the kind of 4 seasons that the manufacturer of the tires had in mind. Remember that majority of cars and people live south of us, and since that’s where the majority of the sales are, that’s where the tires are made for. Once you try a set of winter tires, you will never go back. The difference is like night and day, and they truly will save your life on a slippery icy surface. Even if you drive a 4WD vehicle, you will still notice a huge difference. Imagine the difference between formal dancing shoes in the snow vs a pair of winter boots. Now does it make sense? And since it’s only your tires touching the ground, you better not skimp out. So if you don’t have any winter tires, now is your chance to call all of the used tire places nearby and get some for your car before they are all sold out. New tires are okay too, just more money of course. Now that we got the most important thing out of the way, let’s move on. Next is your coolant. Better come in and get it checked to make sure that it’s freezing point is well below our low reaching night temperatures. If you added any water over the summer, then it’s even more likely that you will need this tended to or else your engine block can rupture and you will get a very expensive leak. Finally, you have to do some of your typical things like change the oil, check your brakes and do an interior cleaning job. If these don’t speak for themselves, then we suggest you read through some of our previous blogs. This can be a lot for a person to do and be responsible over, so we don’t mind, just give us a call or stop by and we will get you and your car ready for the winter. We specialize in imports like BMW, VW, Audi, Volvo, Subaru and Mercedes Benz, but we don’t discriminate against all the others. We make for an excellent alternative to the dealer for any and all makes and models. Remember everyone, drive safe! And just because you are getting ready for the winter, doesn’t mean it’s hear yet. So enjoy the rest of summer and think of it as being proactive.
