Why should you change your oil?

Our engines have very tight fitting metal parts inside of them moving very quickly, thousands of times per minute. This sort of friction of metal on metal creates a lot of heat, but also a lot of microscopic metal shavings. The oil in our engine washes all the parts clean from the shavings and carries them to the oil pan, where a strong magnet prevents the oil shavings from running back into the car. This sort of constant flushing of the insides of the engine keep it running smoothly, and keep it lubricated. This lubrication allows all of the metal parts to slide around with the least resistance in order to keep the friction to a minimum, this allows the engine to run cooler. And before the cycle can repeat, the oil passes through the oil filter to remove even finer particles than the magnet holds on to. The filter and oil can only last so long before they need to be changed. Using higher quality filters and oils can improve your engines performance, and even give you more time between changes. At Top Gear we only use high performance oils imported from Germany Europe and Japan such as Liqui Moly and Eneos. You could say that the oil is your cars bloodline, but rather than deliver good stuff, it removes the bad stuff. In either case, it keeps it alive!
