The Lights on your Car

Did you know that you car has nearly two dozen lights on it? All of these lights do different things, and they all need to replaced when they stop working, so sooner than others. If your interior light has stopped working it may not be a high priority item, but if your headlights stop working that’s another story. In fact you can get pulled over as a result of an exterior light not functioning, and get a fine. You don’t want that. A cool tip that we like to share is anytime you are parked somewhere where you can see your cars reflection, of either the front or the back, take this opportunity to check you lights. What you are going to want to do is first see if your front headlights work. There should be 3 levels of brightness to these. The off position should be a dimly lit (daytime running light), the on postion should be nice and bright from both sides and finally your high beams should have a noticeable difference in brightness. Next check your back lights. Here you want to first see if you can turn the rear lights on and off, no high beams or daytime running lights in the back, just on or off. Now step on your brakes and look for brighter red lights on both sides and possibly in the center (depending on your car model). Now hold your foot on the brake and put your car in reverse and you should see white lights come on. Okay, we are almost done. Now we want to test our turn indicators so go ahead and signal left and right and look for flashing on the lights on both the front and back of your car for each corresponding direction. Sometimes cars have turn signal indicators on the sides of the car, if yours does then look there too. Great, you have checked all your lights and hopefully they all work. If they don't you can try checking your owners manual if they are user installable, if they are then come in and order the lights directly from us. If they aren’t user installable, then don’t worry, that’s what we are here for. We are known to be London’s best alternative to the dealer for any import makes and models, from Audi to BMW to VW. And don’t worry, we don’t discriminate against domestics, we love them too. Another good tip before we wrap it up is that a turn signal indicator will often blink very fast on the dashboard if the bulb needs replacing, so you need to pay attention on the inside too. Once again everyone, and hope to see you soon! Drive safe!
